Grief Work

Compassionate support for visible and invisible loss.

Grief is not only about death. It can also come with identity shifts, caregiving, chronic pain, parenting transitions, relationship changes, career changes, aging, burnout, or the quiet realization that life no longer feels the way you thought it would.

Grief work at Insula Somatics offers a grounded, compassionate space to explore what you are carrying without needing to rush, explain it away, or “move on” before you are ready.

Through therapeutic coaching, somatic awareness, nervous system-informed support, reflection, and body-based practices, Dr. Amy helps clients make space for grief in a way that feels supportive, honest, and deeply human.

This work is not about fixing grief. It is about learning how to move with it, listen to what it is asking for, and reconnect with yourself along the way.

What Sessions May Include

Grief work sessions may include conversation, reflection, somatic awareness, grounding practices, nervous system education, breathwork, journaling prompts, and gentle tools for emotional regulation.

Together, you may explore:

  • Death, loss and life after loss

  • Invisible grief and unnamed losses

  • Grief related to identity, parenting, caretaking, or aging

  • Chronic pain, illness, or changes in the body

  • Relationship changes, family shifts, or major transitions

  • The connection between grief, stress, and the nervous system

  • Where grief may show up in the body

  • Practices for grounding, self-compassion, and reconnection

Each session is guided by your needs, pace, and capacity. There is no timeline you have to follow and no “right” way to grieve.

Dr. Amy's approach to grief work is compassionate, grounded, and body-aware. She supports clients in honoring what has changed while slowly building space for steadiness, meaning, and connection.

This work is designed for people who want support that honors the complexity of grief — not just as an emotional experience, but as something that can affect the body, nervous system, identity, relationships, and sense of self.

Begin With a Consultation

You do not need the perfect words for what you are grieving. You may simply know that something has changed, and you need support in making sense of what you are carrying.

A consultation with Dr. Amy is a place to ask questions, share what you are experiencing, and explore whether grief work may be the right next step.
